 Karnataka is a state located in the southwestern region of India. It was formed on November 1, 1956, with the passage of the States Reorganisation Act. The capital of Karnataka is Bengaluru, which is also known as the "Silicon Valley of India" due to its large number of information technology companies.

Karnataka is the seventh largest state in India by area and the eighth most populous state, with a population of over 60 million people. It is bordered by the Arabian Sea to the west, Goa to the northwest, Maharashtra to the north, Telangana to the northeast, Andhra Pradesh to the east, Tamil Nadu to the southeast, and Kerala to the southwest.
